St Colman's Balaclava

St Mary's is a historic Catholic church in St Kilda with deep roots in Melbourne's religious history, dating back to 1853 when the first Mass was celebrated in a local pub. The current building, designed by renowned architect William Wardell and completed in 1871, was the first church consecrated in the colony and second in Australia. The parish has been central to the local Catholic community for over 170 years, originally operating a convent, primary school, and secondary college.
