The Alderman

The Alderman is a neighbourhood bar on Lygon Street in Brunswick East that's been around for decades. They serve cocktails, wine, and beer in a characterful space with dark panelling, a fireplace, and a leafy courtyard—plus there's an upstairs deck. They've partnered with Bar Idda for a small food menu, and the various spaces work well for functions and private parties.
