Things to do in Collingwood
A curated neighbourhood guide — walks, culture, food, and local favourites.
One of Melbourne's most eclectic shopping and dining streets, Smith Street runs through the heart of Collingwood with a dense mix of independent restaurants, bars, vintage stores, and boutiques. It's walkable, unpretentious, and genuinely busy most nights of the week.
A former school complex on Johnston Street that now houses artist studios, galleries, and creative organisations. It's one of the few remaining affordable creative hubs in inner Melbourne and regularly hosts open studio events and exhibitions.
A working community farm on the banks of the Yarra River where kids and adults can interact with farm animals, visit the weekend farmers market, and walk along the river trail. It feels genuinely removed from the city despite being 3km from the CBD.
A burger bar built from decommissioned Melbourne trams perched on the rooftop of a building on Easey Street. The novelty is real, the views across the city are decent, and it's become a legitimate local institution rather than just a gimmick.
The Yarra River corridor bordering Collingwood's eastern edge offers flat walking and cycling paths through bushland that most visitors overlook. Studley Park Boathouse just across the river in Kew is a good turnaround point.
